Ham Fried Rice

We are becoming a fat and stupid nation.

I went to see The Dark Knight tonight. Yes, by myself, since Matt was tending the children. I half hoped for another “fan boys” type experience. Instead, as I sat in my reserved seat, in a packed theatre, I found myself flanked by morbidly obese people. The couple to my left, snacking on giant plates of nachos, crunching so loudly I couldn’t hear the trailers. The couple to my right, inhaling popcorn from a jumbo tub. Obese people in front of me, obese people behind me, obesity all around. I say “morbidly obese” because all of these people was extremely obese, to the point they were barely fitting into their seats, excess fat overflowing from them.

Then, as the film played, I realized the group of twenty-something-year-old Barbies behind me weren’t quite so bright. As the Batmobile computer read “Loiter,” a girl a few rows behind me loudly asked her group of friends, “Loiter. What does that mean?” Ummmm…wow.

The remedy? Exercise more, pig out less. Read more, shop less. DUH!
